The Aberdare National Park also known as the Majestic moorland is located about 100 km north from Nairobi and stretches over a wide variety of terrains because it covers altitudes from about 7,000 feet (2,100 m) to 14,000 feet (4,300 m) above sea level. Established in May 1950.It covers an area of 766 square kilometers and forms part of the Aberdare Mountain Range.
The Samburu National Reserve is located on the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro river in Kenya. On the other side of the river is the Buffalo Springs National Reserve. The park is 165 km² in size and is situated 350 KM from Nairobi. It ranges in altitude from 800 to 1230m above sea level. Geographically, it is located in Samburu County.
Sibiloi National Park is 900 km North of Nairobi. It covers an area of 1570 km2 ,some 40 kilometers from the Kenya/Ethiopia border. Declared a National Park in 1973 is home to the world-famous Koobi Fora region, which contains some of the most important paleontological and archaeological sites in the world, as well as stunningly beautiful and interesting wildlife this justifies its status.
The Buffalo Springs National Reserve is south of the Samburu National Reserve, which lies on the other side of the Ewaso Ngiro river. It is named after an oasis of clear water at its western end. The reserve has an area of 131 Km2 and is at an altitude of between 850 metres and 1,230 metres above sea level. It is a gently rolling lowland plain of old lava flows and volcanic soils of olivine basalt.
Shaba National Reserve is a tiny gem of a reserve in the north of Kenya. It lies in an area of harsh, dry terrain that's part of the same ecosystem as Samburu and Buffalo Springs. Shaba, however, is virtually cut off to all but those with access to a 4 wheel drive vehicle or an aircraft, so it's mercifully free from traffic.
