Lake Manyara Day Trip
This is a spectacular one-day trip that includes wildlife-viewing and an opportunity to learn about the everyday lives of Tanzanian villagers. On the edge of the Rift Valley, Lake Manyara National Park is small, but its diverse eco-systems pack in a huge variety of animal and birdlife. It is rightly famous for its tree-climbing lions, but also for its boisterous baboons! A riot of colour is provided by the birdlife here, and your daytrip also includes a village tour of Mto wa Mbu.
Itinerary
Moshi/Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha/Moshi
Pick up early in the morning from the hotel, and then start a 4 hours drive to Lake Manyara National Park, The drive will pass through the agricultural and fresh produce market town of Mto Wa Mbu, which is situated next to the entrance of the Lake Manyara National Park. The town is home to thousands of souvenir selling salesmen who pounce of even the slightest sales opportunity.
Lake Manyara National Park is among the most dramatic African wildlife areas of Tanzania consisting of massive, yet shallow, soda lake which covers almost two-thirds of the park. It is located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The varied habitat of the park draws wide variety of animals including densely populated African elephants, tree-climbing lions, and large flock of flamingos. Enjoy game drives and picnic lunch in the park. Later in the afternoon, leave the park and drive back to Moshi/Arusha
